First: Preamble:
Sudan, especially after the outbreak of the war in mid-April 2023, witnessed a deterioration in development levels, weak development capacities, lack of domestic financial resources and a severe imbalance in the productive structure of the economy as a result of the effects of the war on the decline in investment rates and the flight of national and foreign capital, which resulted in a halt in the development process and increased dependence on imports, as well as affected the general budget and state revenues and increased the volume of expenditure, in addition to the high budget deficit and trade balance, which resulted in more structural imbalances and weak governance. Therefore, Sudan is faced with great challenges to rebuild its institutions and infrastructure and seek to develop economic recovery plans to meet these exceptional circumstances.
This requires discussions and economic scientific dialogues by specialists and interested parties in order to come up with practical proposals and solutions that address all current issues while providing a vision for a better future for the Sudanese economy and strengthening the role of partnership between the private and public sectors according to scientific bases that take into account the experience of the past, the challenges of the present and future prospects.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning deemed it necessary to organize an economic conference aimed at diagnosing the economy, analyzing all the issues resulting from the effects of the war and putting forward appropriate remedies, focusing on development aspects as an entry point for economic recovery through an invitation to gather the ideas and opinions of experts from inside and outside Sudan and how to benefit from them in order to reach the goals that the conference seeks to achieve.
Secondly: Objectives of the conference:
The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Analyze and diagnose the current economic situation resulting from the repercussions of the ongoing war based on scientific papers and data from reliable sources.
